Indian Art and Craft – Tarangamel Dance

Trangamel is the dance form of Goa in India. It is a famous folk dance and an energetic form performed by the young generation of Goa.

Tarangamel is performed on the occasion of Dussehra, Holi and Shigmo festivals. The name is derived from the streamers, and flags called as Tarang. Multicoloured flags and streamers are waved by the performers.

Dhol and Romut are the instruments, played on the Tarangmel dance. Young boys and girls wearing colourful costumes and make vigorous movements during the dance. The viewers can see bright colours moving swiftly.

The performers create a spirit inspiring and inviting the viewers also to join them. Tarangamel dance is one of the most appreciated folk dances in Goa.
