Here is one absolutely mesmerising performance by our Ustad Zakir Hussain – Rakesh Chaurasia duo with just Tabla and Flute (Bansuri). Listening to the music with headphones is much advised to fully immerse into and get the ultimate feeling.

Ustad Zakir Hussain

Ustad Zakir Hussain is the eldest son of Ustad Allah Rakha (1919-2000) who was a maestro on Tabla, specialized in Hindustani Classical Music. Ustad Alla Rakha was mainly responsible for the introduction of Tabla to the Western audience. Zakir Hussain (born in 1951) was a child prodigy who was taught Pakhwaj by his father at the age of 3 years and gave his first concert at the age of seven and started touring at eleven.

He has received many awards and accolades from various Indian and Foreign governments and organizations. He received Padma Shri award in 1988 and Padma Bhushan in 2002 from the Government of India. The Indo-American award was given to him in 1990 for his outstanding contribution to the relations between US and India. These are only a very few to mention.

He has collaborated with many Indian and Foreign musicians and artists on various occasions and performed at different locations within and outside India.

Rakesh Chaurasia

Rakesh Chaurasia, born in 1971 is a an Indian Flautist and the nephew of another great artist Hariprasad Chaurasia. He plays on the traditional South Asian Bamboo Flute. He is the lead artist of the RAF Ensemble (Rakesh and Friends). Rakesh has received many awards for his excellence and has also collaborated with other famous musicians and artists.
