Kabini a Must Visit Place

Kabini a Must Visit Place

If you are a wildlife enthusiast, Kabini is a must visit place, about two hundred kilometres from Bengaluru. Kabini is known for its natural beauty and a perfect place to visit on a weekend for a getaway from your busy city life.

Kabini is in the south-west of Mysore (Karnataka) and adjoining the borderlands of Kerala State which is a perfect weekend getaway. About 90 km drive from Mysore or 220 km drive from Bengaluru makes the approachability much easier for people from Karnataka and people from Kerala

We visited Kabini in October last year between October 29 and 1st November, traveling by car from Bengaluru. Our stay was at the Kabini Lake View Resorts and was not a guided tour. So, we had our liberty to chose where to go and how much time to spend in each location. The resort staff were very helpful in selecting the places to visit and giving us the directions. The Jungle Safari was of course a guided tour.

Food and Accommodation

As there are no hotels nearby, it is difficult to get outside food. The resort arranged delicious breakfast, lunch and dinner for us throughout our stay there. The resort has two types of rooms “Modern” and “Ancient” which are well clean and hygienic.

Places we visited

During our trip, we visited Kabini Backwaters, Kabini River, Nagarhole National Park, Bheemanakolli Mahadeshwara Temple and Chikkadevamma Temple apart from having an extensive tour of the Kabini Lake View Resort. Overall we enjoyed the stay, food and the tour very much.

The attractions in Kabini worth seeing are the following.

  • Nagarhole National Park: Mysore-Madikeri Road, Hunsur, Karnataka
  • Kabini River: Wayanad district, Kerala
  • Dam: Near Beechanahalli village, Heggadadevanakote Taluk, Mysore
  • Wildlife Sanctuary: Karnataka
  • Backwater Viewpoint: Basapura (Kittur), Karnataka
  • Rameshwara Temple: Theranimunti village, near ‘Hosa HD kote, Bidarahalli, Karnataka
