The Mind and Body are very much connected. Hence slightest disturbances in the Mind can reflect in the Body. Therefore, to have a healthy body, it is a must to have control over your mind and yourself.
Mana Eva Manushyaanaam
Kaaranam Bandha Mokshayoh
Bandhaaya Vishayaasaktham
Muktam Nirvishayam Smrutham
This is a verse from Amritabindu Upanishad. Mind alone is the cause of Bondage (Bandha) and Liberation (Moksha). Mind attached to sense/material objects is Bondage and devoid of Desire is considered free (Liberation). It is Mind that creates Heaven and Hell. Mind is our Relative as well as Enemy.
If one is able to control his/her mind it is Heaven and if one goes behind the material world (happiness) then it is Hell. Every religion stresses the importance of Mind Control. It is one thing that is catching attraction world-wide.
Be it an individual or a community, the development and he ability in achieving targets depends upon how one can control the mind.
It is very easy to say that but very difficult in reality. It is extremely difficult just like trying to block wind. How much every you try, the wind tries to escape your controls and binding.
In Bhagavad Gita, Sri Krishna tells Arjuna that it is possible to control the mind with practice and detachment. Mind is something which has infinite powers. But all its powers get concentrated towards the material objects and hence getting diverted to various aspects of life. One can bring the mind in his/her control by practicing Meditation and Self Control. That person who succeeds in it can do wonders.
We will look into ways on controlling the mind and attaining peace of mind in forthcoming articles.
