Trip to Wayanad

Wayanad is a rural district, in the eastern part of the former Malabar district. It is famous for the beautiful valleys and adventurous trekking trails.

The Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary is home to animals like elephants, tigers, leopards, wild bear, spotted deer and like. The Kuruva Island, Edakkal Caves, the Chembra Peak, Ambukuthi Hills, Pazhassi Raja Tomb, Lakkidi, Soochippara Waterfalls and many more attract tourists and trekkers to Wayanad.

Wayanad is also known as the “Green Paradise” which lies between the mountains of the Western Ghats. Thamarassery Churam is a challenge to the drivers and about 890 sq.km of area of the district is forest. Kalpetta, Mananthavady and Sultan Bathery are the three municipal towns of the district.

We had only a very short trip to Wayanad and it is a “Must Visit” place.
