Serena Williams – Retiring From Tennis

Serena Williams, the top Grand Slam winner announced that she will be retiring from Tennis after the US Open this year. Serena is the 23-time Grand Slam winner topping the Women’s Singles. She plans to focus on “other things that are important to me” as quoted by her.

In her Instagram post, she has posted “There comes a time in life when we have to decide to move in different direction”. The announcement came after she won her first singles match in 430 days on Monday, defeating Nuria Parrizas-Diaz 6-4 6-3 of Spain, at the Canadian Open in Toronto.

Her sister Venus and herself transformed the sport, making a regular habit of winning Grand Slams in Singles and Doubles Tennis. At this point, Serena has won 73 career Singles Titles. She has also won 23 Doubles Titles and 2 Mixed Doubles Titles.
